Shannon Harris

Shannon Harris is in his first year as quarterbacks coach at Hampton University, after a seven-year stint with the Tennessee State football program – where he worked with offensive coordinator Fred Kaiss.

Harris joined the staff in 2003, serving as wide receivers coach in 2006.

In 2009, Harris duties shifted becoming the quarterbacks coach, heading the development of all players in the position. He was in charge of recruiting for West Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Indianapolis, Mobile, Mississippi Junior Colleges, and Illinois Colleges.

As a former Tennessee State quarterback, Harris had an outstanding season for the Tigers in 2001, setting a new Tiger standard for total offense in a season with 3,137 offensive yards.

The Wiggins, Miss., native played two seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College where he was selected to the All-Mississippi South team and played in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star game.

After his playing career at TSU concluded, he remained with the program as a student assistant coach. He also played the 2003 season with the Shreveport Battle Wings of the Arena Football League II.

Shannon received his degree in criminal justice from TSU in 2004. He has one son, Payton Harris.
