Jessie Larson is entering her first season as a graduate assistant with the Hampton University softball program, working with head coach Trena Peel and assistant coach Lisa Jansen.

Larson played softball for North Carolina A&T State University from 2006-10, where she was a catcher and first baseman for the Lady Aggies. She is the school’s all-time leader in RBIs and second in homeruns. As a freshman, she led the MEAC in RBIs and was named the school’s Defensive Player of the Year. In 2007 and 2010, she received MEAC All-Tournament Team honors and was named Second Team All-MEAC in her senior year.

Larson, a native from Morrison, Colo., graduated from North Carolina A&T Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Animal Science with an Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Certificate in Biotechnology. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Biology with an emphasis in Environmental Science.

After graduation, Larson worked for HitStreak Fastpitch as a trainer and coach. She also worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife doing wildlife rehabilitation. There, she rehabilitated everything from orphaned bears and mountain lions, to injured eagles and hawks.

Outside of softball, Jessie enjoys snowboarding, music, painting and basketball.
