Adrian Walters brings a wealth of coaching experience to Hampton University Men’s Basketball program, joined the Pirates basketball staff in May of 2007 after five years of working with Bank of America as a Vice-President. Prior to working with Bank of America Walters served as an assistant coach with Central Connecticut State in New Britten, CT and prior to assisting at Central Connecticut State Walters also served under the tutelage of George Raveling at the University of Southern California. Walters also had stops at Towson State University and Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
Walters’ duties at Hampton include assisting with all aspects of the program, including recruiting, practice and game preparation, scheduling, and opponents scouting.
A four-year letter winning guard for Saint Francis University (1982-86), Walters finished his career shooting 79.4 percent from the free throw line and 40 percent from the Field. Walters was a three-year captain. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Social Work while at St. Francis. Walters was not only a member of the Men’s Basketball team but he also participated in the local Big Brother Big Sister Program.
Walters has served on many boards and a member of different organizations, which include serving on the Regional board of United Way of the Capital Area. Fluent in American Sign Language, Walters is a native of Washington, DC, he is married to the former Phyllis Bailey and they have a daughter Adriana and a son Elias. Walters currently reside in Hampton, VA.
