2004 … SOPHOMORE SEASON
Just as she did as a freshman, the sophomore sensation Hoskins was a consistent and dominant force for the Pirates all season long … Started in 33 of HU’s 34 matches, and played in 111 games … Earned a spot on the All-MEAC Second Team … Became the third-fastest player in school history to record over 500 kills and 500 digs in a career, behind LaJaiah Miles (1994-97) and Talia Ogle (1997-2000) … Led the team in kills for the second straight year … Also led the squad in digs with 378 for an average of 3.41 digs per game … Averaged .215 attack percentage, 3.98 kills, 0.17 assists, 0.25 aces, 3.41 digs, 0.55 blocks and 4.64 points per game average … Set a new career-high in kills with 27 at Coppin State (Oct. 9) … Mustered up a new career-high in total attack attempts with 60 against Clark Atlanta (Sept. 18) … Named to the Lady Bulldogs Spikefest All-Tournament Team hosted by South Carolina State (Sept. 17-18) All-Tournament Team … A member of the College of William & Mary Invitational All-Tournament Team (Sept. 10-11) … Collected team match-high performances of 24 kills against Howard (Nov. 12), Norfolk State (Oct. 15) and Clark Atlanta (Sept. 18) … Honored as MEAC Player of the Week twice on Sept. 6 and Nov. 8 … Set a new single season best in HU history with 442 kills … Also collected a new HU single season career best with 378 digs on the campaign.
2003 … FRESHMAN SEASON
Hoskins enjoyed a successful freshman campaign with the Pirates, playing in all 28 matches, including 22 starts, and 103 games … Averaged a .178 attack percentage, 1.79 kills, 0.16 aces, 1.77 digs and 2.21 points per game … Team’s second leading blocker with 45 total blocks (10 solo, 35 assisted) … Recorded the team’s second-highest average of 0.44 blocks per game …Put down 184 kills on 567 attacks … Named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week four times (Sept. 15, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Nov. 17)…Recorded 16 service aces for the year … Served up three service aces against Alabama State (Sept. 13) and Howard (Nov. 14) … Finished out the year second on the squad in digs (182) … Registered a season-high 13 kills on three occasions, with the latest coming against Maryland-Eastern Shore (Nov. 3) … Set up four assists against Norfolk State (Oct. 28).
HIGH SCHOOL
Chavanca played four years of volleyball at Lincoln High School in Dallas … She is from the same high school as women’s basketball player Rachel Butler … As a senior, Hoskins led the city of Dallas in kills for the first half of the season … Named All-District (10) of the Class AAAA (4-A) league every year from freshman through senior … District MVP as a senior … Helped to lead the Tigers to a District 10 championship during her senior year (2002) … Also played basketball and ran track & field for Lincoln … As a sophomore on the track, Hoskins registered first place in District 10 for the High Jump and as a member of the 4x100 Meter Relay squad.
PERSONAL
Born on October 29, 1984 in Dallas Texas … She is the daughter of Beverly Hoskins … Affectionately known to all around her as “CeCe” … The one goal at HU she has in place is to help the volleyball program to succeed to new heights … The biggest influence in life has always been her brother, Victor.
