Hampton University senior forward Keiara Avant was named HU Athlete of the Week on Monday, for her performance this past week on the hardwood.

Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) scored a career-high 32 points – 22 in the second half – in Saturday’s 81-60 win over Morgan State, hitting a career-high 14 field goals in 19 attempts. She is the first Lady Pirate since Jericka Jenkins against North Carolina A&T in 2010 to score at least 30 points in a game.

She also had 13 rebounds in that contest for her 13th double-double of the season. Avant also had 15 points, on 6-for-9 shooting, and six rebounds in Monday’s 67-45 win over Howard.
