Hampton University sophomore Chidi Okezie was named HU Athlete of the Week on Monday, following his performance this past weekend on the track.

Okezie (Philadelphia, Pa.) was on the Pirates’ 4x400-meter relay team that won gold at the Wake Forest Open on Friday and Saturday to open the 2013 outdoor season. He helped the squad run a 3:20.86 to win the race.

He also came in second in the 200-meter dash after running a 21.30.
