Hampton University freshman guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas was named HU Athlete of the Week following her performance this past week on the hardwood.

Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) was named to the All-Tournament Team at Cal State Northridge after scoring a career-best 36 points against Utah State on Friday, hitting six 3-pointers to help the Lady Pirates defeat the Aggies 98-88.

She added five more 3-pointers against Santa Clara on Saturday, en route to 25 points and a career-high six assists in Hampton’s 70-48 win.

Tate-DeFreitas also had 14 points on Tuesday at UC-Santa Barbara.
