Hampton University sophomore Rebecca Magett was named HU Athlete of the Week for her performance on the softball diamond.

Magett (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was named MEAC Player of the Week after a three-game series against Maryland-Eastern Shore on April 2-3 -- a series in which she went 7-for-10 (.700) from the plate with four home runs, two doubles and eight RBI. She also scored eight runs and walked once.

All four of Magett's home runs came in the second game of April 2's doubleheader, including a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lady Pirates the win.
