Hampton University sophomore forward Alyssa Bennett was named Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performances on the basketball court this past week.

Bennett (Hampton, Va.) averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds for the Lady Pirates (11-3, 3-0 MEAC) in a pair of wins over East Carolina and Howard this past week. She scored 18 points, pulled down seven rebounds, recorded two blocks and one steal in Monday’s win over East Carolina.

In a 63-40 conference win over Howard on Saturday, she tallied a career-high 23 points, tied her career high with 11 rebounds, blocked a career-high three shots and three steals en route to her third double-double of the season.

Bennett was named MEAC Player of the Week, becoming the fourth Lady Pirate to be named MEAC Player of the Week so far this season.
