Princess Anne, Md. – Tesara Liggins went 4-for-4 in game one and Brittany Davis homered twice in game two as Hampton (29-9) swept Maryland-Eastern Shore 10-0 and 12-3 in women’s softball. On the mound Amanda Black recorded the victory in both contests to earn her ninth consecutive decision and improve to 18-4 on the year. Winners in 11 of the their last 12 games, the Lady Pirates return to the diamond next Saturday when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Howard.
Hampton pounded out 14 hits in game one led by Liggins’ who singled, doubled twice and tripled while driving in two runs and scoring three. Black helped her own cause at the plate with an RBI single in the second and a sacrifice fly in the third, scoring Jada Jeffries.
Davis blasted her seventh and eighth home runs of the year in game two with a solo shot in the third and a two-run homer in the fourth. Senior third baseman Maggie Wolfe followed Davis’ at bat in the fourth with a home run of her own, extending her hitting streak to 14 games and tying Davis and Jennifer Gonzales for the team lead with eight.
