Severn, Md. – North Carolina A&T hit three home runs, including a pair by freshman Jessie Larson, to eliminate top seeded Hampton University from the 2007 MEAC Softball Tournament. The Lady Pirates, who were hoping to capture their first MEAC title since 1996, finish the season 36-13.
Larson hit a two-run homer off of Hampton starter Amanda Black in the second and followed that with another two-run shot in the third to give the Aggies a 4-0 lead. Lillian Bullock hit her league-leading 16th homer of the year in the fourth to increase North Carolina A&T’s cushion.
Down 7-0 heading into the seventh the Lady Pirates finally got on the board with a two-run home run from All-MEAC centerfielder Tesara Liggins. Jada Jeffries followed with an RBI single of her own, but that was all that Hampton could manage before Aggie starter Sasha Philpot closed things out.
Philpot recorded the win to improve to 16-10 on the year, while Black finished the season 22-7.
