BAKER SIGNS CONTRACT WITH BRONCOS

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Former Hampton University defensive end Chris Baker was one of 15 college players signed to free agent contracts by the Denver Broncos on Monday, the team announced.

Baker (Windson, Conn.) was a First Team All-MEAC selection, as well as an SBN Black College All-American. He led the Pirates and the MEAC with 8.5 sacks this past season to go along with 13 quarterback hurries. Baker's 69 tackles were the third-highest total on the team, and his 16.5 tackles for loss led the squad.

Before playing for Hampton last season, Baker was a defensive lineman at Penn State, where in two seasons he amassed 43 tackles (including 21 solo efforts) and 4.5 sacks in 20 games. Baker started eight of those games. The Nittany Lions finished the 2007 season with the seventh-best run defense in the nation, only giving up 87.9 yards a game on the ground.

Baker led the defensive line that season with 37 tackles.
