HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University women's basketball team will play its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game of the season on Saturday, when they welcome the Bison of Howard University to the HU Convocation Center at 6 p.m.
The Lady Pirates (2-4), in their second season under head coach
David Six, snapped their four-game losing streak on Monday with a 52-51 win over Radford at the Dedmon Center. Junior guard
Choicetta McMillian (Fairfield, Texas) led Hampton with 14 points on 4-for-9 shooting, going 2-for-4 from 3-point range, while senior forward

Sophomore forward Saadia Doyle led the team with 24 points and eight rebounds; it was the fifth time this season that Doyle has scored at least 20 points. Junior guard India Bradford and sophomore guard Tamoria Holmes each had nine points for the Bison.
Hampton is 17-20 all-time against Howard, after the two teams split both meetings last season. The Bison beat the Lady Pirates 48-47 on Dec. 5, 2009 in Washington, D.C., before Hampton returned the favor on March 4, 2010 at the HU Convocation Center with a 55-43 win. Hampton has won five of the last seven meetings dating back to 2007 – and dating back to 2002, Hampton has won 13 out of 15 against Howard, including eight in a row from 2002-06. Hampton is 9-6 all-time against Howard at home.
The Bison were picked to finish third in the MEAC this season, coming off a 2009-10 season in which Howard finished fourth in the conference with a 16-14 record and a 10-6 mark in the MEAC. Howard returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's squad, including Doyle, who was named Preseason First Team All-MEAC after earning conference Rookie of the Year honors last season.
Heading into Wednesday's game at Long Island, Doyle leads Howard in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game and shooting 41.7 percent (48-for-115) from the floor. She is the only Bison averaging in double figures, and Doyle also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 7.9 boards per contest.
Howard is scoring just 45.1 points per game heading into Wednesday's contest, while giving up 64.9 points a game.
