PRINCETON, N.J. – Five members of the Hampton University men's track & field team had a strong showing over the weekend at the 2010 IC4A Outdoor Championships hosted by Princeton University on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the William Weaver Track & Field Stadium.
The Pirates finished fifth in the team standings with 35 points, one point behind third-place George Mason and four points behind third-place Rutgers. Connecticut won the team title with 64 points.
Junior Aaron Anderson (Fort Washington, Md.) gave the Pirates an individual title by taking the 200-meter dash with a 21.04. He also finished fourth in the 100-meter dash after running a 10.57, and he was on the 4x100-metrer relay team.
That squad, which also included junior Predist Walker (Suffolk, Va.), junior Devon Brown (Laurel, Md.) and sophomore Reggie Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.), ran a 40.35 to finish second, after posting the top preliminary time with a 39.94.
Reggie Dixon also finished fifth in the 100-meter dash, running a 10.58.
Junior Damon Dixon (Great Falls, Va.) jumped 2.02 meters in the high jump to finish fourth, and Walker finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.20.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates will return to action May 27-29, when select members head to Greensboro, N.C. for the NCAA Division I East Regional at Irwin Belk Track.
