Racquel Vassell competed in the 2011 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University.
Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) ran a 6.73 in the preliminaries of the men's 60-meter dash on Friday to come in 13th overall and fifth in his heat, while
Vassell (Irvington, N.J.) ran an 8.39 in the women's 60-meter hurdles to come in 15th overall in the preliminary heats.
She finished fifth in her heat race.
Florida's Jeff Demps took the men's 60-meter dash title with a 6.53, while Brianna Rollins of Clemson won the NCAA title in the women's 60-meter hurdles, running a facility-record 7.96.
Oregon won the women's team title with 67 points, while Florida tallied 52 points to take the men's crown.
The Lady Pirates will open the 2011 outdoor season on Friday and Saturday, when they head to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Wake Forest Open, while the Pirates will open the season on March 24-27, when they head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Alabama Relays.
