TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Hampton University senior
Aaron Anderson and junior
Reggie Dixon led a strong effort from the men's track & field team this past Thursday through Sunday at the Alabama Relays at the Sam Bailey Track on the campus of the University of Alabama.
Anderson (Fort Washington, Md.) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.13, while also running a 1051 in the 100-meter dash to finish second.
Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) won the 100-meter dash after running a 10.33
Dixon also ran a 21.72 to finish sixth in the 200-meter dash.
The Pirates also took home titles in the 4x400-meter relay (3:14.99) and the 4x800-meter relay (7:40.45).
Freshman
Je'Von Hutchison (Boynton, Fla.) ran a 48.57 to finish second in the 400-meter dash, while freshman
Brandon Burton (Newport News, Va.) came in fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.90.
Senior
Damon Dixon (Great Falls, Va.) jumped 1.93 meters in the high jump to finish fifth, while freshman
Ivann Parker (Woodbridge, Va.) came in fifth in the shot put after tossing it 14.99 meters.
The Lady Pirates, meanwhile, competed in the Raleigh Relays on Friday and Saturday at the Paul Derr Track on the campus of North Carolina State University. The 4x400-meter relay team turned in the best performance of the weekend, running a 3:48.88 to finish second.
Senior
Racquel Vassell (Irvington, N.J.) recorded the Lady Pirates' best individual performance, running a 14.01 to finish fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Freshman
Breana Norman (Virginia Beach, Va.) came in seventh with a 14.28.
Junior
Benita Taylor (Philadelphia, Pa.) ran a 2:13.41 to come in seventh in the 800-meter run invitational, while freshman
Cydney Robinson (Portsmouth, Va.) finished eighth with a 2:13.68.
The Lady Pirates' 4x200-meter relay team ran a 1:41.69 to finish 10th.
The Lady Pirates will return to action on Friday and Saturday, when they split between the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. The Pirates will also compete in the Florida Relays.
