DIXON WINS IC4A 100-METER DASH

PRINCETON, N.J. –
Hampton University junior Reggie Dixon won an event title at the IC4A Outdoor Championships, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Weaver Track & Field Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.

Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) won the 100-meter dash after running a 10.45 in the final; he also turned in the quickest time in the preliminaries, winning his heat race with a time of 10.50.

The Pirates' 4x800-meter relay team took home a third-place finish, winning the bronze with a season-best time of 7:26.66. Freshman Larry Ramirez (Pleasantville, N.J.), sophomores Jaleel Rogers (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Xavier Fraction (Sewell, N.J.) and freshman Je'Von Hutchison (Boynton, Fla.) made up the relay squad.

Senior Damon Dixon (Great Falls, Va.) jumped 2.02 meters to finish tied for 10th in the high jump.

The Pirates finished the IC4A Outdoor Championships with 16 points, tying Temple for 20th in the team standings. Duke won the men's team title with 74.5 points.

The Lady Pirates finished second in the 4x400-meter relay at the ECAC Outdoor Championships, with freshman Emmy Fraenk (Hampton, Va.), senior Racquel Vassell (Irvington, N.J.), freshman Cydney Robinson (Portsmouth, Va.) and junior Benita Taylor (Philadelphia, Pa.) running a season-best 3:39.29.

Vassell also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.84, while freshman Breana Norman (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a 24.11 – after running a season-best 24.05 in the preliminary heats.

Norman also came in sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.18.

The Lady Pirates finished tied with the U.S. Naval Academy for 16th with 21 points, while Duke claimed the ECAC women's team title with 73.75 points.
