BOISE, Idaho – Former Hampton University basketball standout Devin Green has been traded to the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League, the team announced on Wednesday.
Green had signed a contract with the New York Knicks, back in December, according to ESPNNewYork.com.
That was to be Green's second stint in the NBA; he also has played for the Los Angeles Lakers after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2005. During his time with the Lakers, Green averaged 0.9 points, 0.9 rebounds and 5.0 minutes in 27 games played.
The 2005 Hampton graduate has spent the last five years playing overseas, including stops in Germany, Italy, Belgium and Bulgaria. He also attended summer camps for the Lakers, Knicks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves.
For his NBDL career, Green is averaging 16.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
Green is fourth in program history in scoring with 1,757 career points – an average of 14.3 per game – while sitting tied for eighth in career rebounds with 767. He is also ninth all-time in career 3-pointers, making 148, and 10th in program history with a .347 percentage behind the arc for his career.
He was also second in school history with 168 career steals.
Green led the team in scoring in 2002-03 (14.9 points per game) and 2003-04 (15.2), while also topping the team in rebounds in 2003-04 (7.6 per game) and 2004-05 (7.6). Green also led the team in assists in 2003-04 with 2.3 per game, and steals in 2004-05 with 1.9 per contest.
He also was a part of the 2001-02 Pirates team that swept the MEAC regular-season and tournament titles, before advancing to the NCAA Tournament to take on Connecticut.
