DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Hampton University men's basketball team will look for its second straight win on Monday evening, as the Pirates square off against Bethune-Cookman at historic Moore Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.

The Pirates (10-18, 6-8 MEAC), in their third season under head coach Edward Joyner Jr., picked up their first road win of the season on Saturday, beating Florida A&M 74-59. The Wildcats (13-16, 9-5 MEAC) fell 75-72 to Norfolk State on Saturday for their second straight loss. Junior guard Kevin Dukes led Bethune-Cookman with 16 points, while guard Anthony Breeze added 12 points and junior forward Javoris Bryant chipped in 11 points. Senior forward Garrius Holloman had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Bethune-Cookman went 21-13 last season, winning the MEAC regular-season title with a mark of 13-3 before falling to Morgan State in the semifinals of the MEAC Tournament. The Wildcats, under first-year head coach Gravelle Craig, return three starters and six letterwinners from last year and were picked to finish eighth in the MEAC this season.

Dukes leads the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game, while sophomore guard Adrien Coleman is pouring in 11.2 points a contest and Breeze is averaging 11.1 points a night. Holloman, on top of averaging 9.8 points a game, is the team's top rebounder with 6.5 boards a contest.

The Wildcats are scoring 63.5 points per game, while giving up 66.1 points a contest.

Since moving up to Div. I in 1995, the Pirates are 17-9 against Bethune-Cookman, having won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two teams despite splitting both of last season's match-ups. Hampton has won in each of its last five visits to Daytona Beach, Fla., including last season's 68-56 victory on Jan. 22.

Bethune-Cookman has not won consecutive games against the Pirates since the 2004-05 season. Hampton is 9-4 against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Hampton is 197-117 all-time as a Div. I program (since 1995) against teams currently in the MEAC, including an 11-5 mark in the conference last season.
