PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Hampton University freshman kicker
Anthony Prevost was named a SBN Sports Black College All-American, as the 2013 SBN Sports Black College All-America team was announced on Wednesday.
Prevost (Chesterfield, Va.) was a First Team All-MEAC selection after leading the conference this past season in field goals, converting on 17 of his 19 attempts. His season-long kick of 43 yards came at South Carolina State on Sept. 28, and he added a 42-yard field goal against North Carolina Central on Nov. 9.
He was also tied for second in the MEAC in scoring among kickers, accounting for 76 points during the season. Prevost made a season-best three field goals against Delaware State on Oct. 26.
Prevost also had 47 kickoffs on the season, recording nine touchbacks.
He was also named an FCS Honorable Mention All-American by Beyond Sports Network back on Dec. 12.
Southern University quarterback Dray Joseph was named SBN Sports Doug Williams Offensive Player of the Year, while South Carolina State linebacker Joe Thomas was named the Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year.
Tennessee State's Rod Reed was named Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year.
The 2013 SBN Sports Black College All-American Team will be honored during the Black College Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony on March 1 in Atlanta, Ga.
