HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University junior quarterback Jaylian Williamson and senior rightside Vendula Strakova were named HU Athletes of the Week on Monday for their respective performances this past weekend.
 
Williamson (Chesapeake, Va.) threw for a school-record 407 yards in Saturday's 41-28 loss at Old Dominion, completing 32 of his 45 passes. It's just the third time in program history that a Pirates quarterback has thrown for 400 yards in a game, and the first time since Herbert Bynes in 2008.
 
He threw three touchdown passes, including a 75-yard catch-and-run to senior Jorrian Washington (Los Angeles, Calif.).
 
Strakova (Brno, Czech Republic) was named MVP of the DePaul Invitational after helping the Lady Pirates to a 3-0 record over the weekend. She averaged 5.58 kills and 6.29 points per set over the course of the weekend, including her first double-double of the season at DePaul (27 kills, 10 digs).
 
She also had 25 kills and seven digs against Bradley. For the weekend, Strakova hit .359.
