Results: Men | Women
SMYRNA, Del. – The Hampton University women's cross country team finished third in the MEAC Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at the Delaware State Outreach and Research Facility, while the men's cross country team finished fifth.
Between the two teams, Hampton had four runners earn All-MEAC honors.
Three of those four were on the women's team – paced by senior
Ce'aira Brown, who finished the 5K course in 18:10.60 to finish fourth overall. This marked the third straight year in which Brown earned All-MEAC honors.
Kaylor Murray also picked up All-MEAC accolades after finishing 11th with an 18:53.80, while
Kayla Key ran a 19:05.20 to come in 14th.
Amanda Delacruz was 17th with a 19:16.20, while
Pollyanne Velasco was 18th after also turning in a 19:16.20.
Ashley Modeste was 27th after running a 19:52.30.
Kanitra Hatton ran a 20:47.00 to finish 40th.
Florida A&M won the women's team title with 22 points. The Lady Pirates were third overall with 64 points, finishing just two points behind second-place Maryland Eastern Shore.
Cynthia Chelelgo of Florida A&M won the women's individual title after running a 17:49.60.
On the men's side,
Stanley Davis earned All-MEAC honors, finishing 14th with a 26:49.10 over the 8K course. He is the first Pirate to be named All-MEAC in cross country since David Kimani came in sixth in the 2010 MEAC championship meet.
Christopher Roundtree was 31st with a 28:48.30, while
Quentin Morales-Perryman came in 32nd after running a 29:01.80.
Rayon Black was 35th with a 29:26.40 and
Joshua Oxley ran a 29:32.60 to come in 36th overall.
Eric Ellis was 45th with a 30:19.70.
Maryland Eastern Shore won the men's team title with 25 points. Hampton was fifth with 148 points.
UMES' Khalil Rmidi Kinini won the men's individual title with a time of 25:00.50.
The top 15 finishers on each side earned All-MEAC honors.
