NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Sept. 12, 2025) … The Hampton University cross country teams participated in the Christopher Newport Invitational held at Lee Hall mansion on Friday and came away with a fourth and fifth place finish.
For the women who came in fourth with 108 points, they were paced by
Avah Savage who rank 23:58.73 over the 6k Lee Hall course.
Shari Brown was just behind her in 11
th in 24:06.20, while
Mekayla Wilson was 20
th in 24:21.11. Rounding out the five scoring Pirates were
Kylee King (33
rd/25:14.01) and
Angel Moultrie (43
rd/26:00.46). Other Pirates running included Olayinka Yetunde (48
th/26:10.45) and
Alannah Runge (66
th/27:51.22).
CNU won the 10-team women's race with 37 points, followed by VCU with 44 and Salisbury with 78.
For the men who were fifth with 128 points, they were headed by
Mohammed Al-YaFee who was ninth running 26:51.14 over the 8k course.
Daniel Danner was 27
th in 28:24.12, followed by Khalil Hamid (35
th/29:00.78),
Dominic Bassey (51
st/30:15.98) and
Jordan Dones (64
th/33:55.18).
Salisbury won the nine-team men's race with 30 points, followed by CNU (62), Bridgewater (93), and Virginia Union (110).
