GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hampton University senior
Ce'aira Brown won the women's individual crown at the 32nd annual Greensboro Invitational, which was held Saturday afternoon at Hagan Stone Park.
Brown completed the 5K course in 18:36.60 to set the top time.
She last won an individual race last season, when she took the top spot in the Virginia Union Panther Classic by running a personal-best 17:32.00.
It is her second career individual cross country title.
Kayla Key was the second Lady Pirates to finish in the top 20, coming in 18th after running a 20:24.10 in her first meet of the season.
Kaylor Murray, making her 2015 debut, just missed out on the top 20, finishing 21st with a 20:39.10.
Ashley Modeste was 41st with a 21:27.40, and
Kanitra Hatton ran a 22:59.50 to come in 76th.
The Lady Pirates finished sixth in the team standings with 141 points. The UNC Chapel Hill Club won the women's team title with 43 points.
On the men's side,
Stanley Davis paced the Pirates with a 28:43.50 to come in 30th overall.
Quentin Morales-Perryman completed the 8K course in 28:51.70 to finish 34th, while
Eric Ellis was 44th after turning in a 29:22.30.
Rayon Black ran a 30:11.90 to finish 69th, while
Christopher Roundtree was 73rd with a 30:15.00.
The Pirates were seventh in the men's team standings with 196 points. The N.C. State Club took the men's team title with 24 points.
