LADY PIRATES START DECEMBER AT JAMES MADISON

HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University Lady Pirates start the month of December with the first of four games within the Commonwealth of Virginia as they travel to Harrisonburg to face the Dukes of James Madison on Friday at 7 pm in the Convocation Center.

This will be the sixth all-time meeting between the schools with James Madison leading the series 4-1.   Last year's game went to overtime as JMU pulled out a 68-56 win on Nov. 29, 2015 at the Hampton University Convocation Center.

The game will be on WHOV 88.1 FM with Richie Summerville and Khari Thompson starting with the pre-game show at approximately 6:45 pm on Friday night.  You can also follow live stats and live video feed via JMU Madizone.

Hampton enters the game with a 3-4 record having won its last three games.  The Lady Pirates went 3-1 in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge last week after defeating Lafayette College 58-55 on Sunday in Springfield, Mass.

Malia Tate-DeFreitas leads Hampton in scoring averaging 18.1 points per game and assists at 3.4 per game.   Monnazjea Finney-Smith is second in scoring at 8.9 points per game and leads in 3-point percentage hitting 40% from behind the arc.  Kaylah Lupoe leads in rebounding at 6.3 per game and in blocked shots with 10, while Jephany Brown is second in rebounding at 5.7 and in blocked shots with five.
