HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University women's tennis team ended their 2016 season on Sunday with a 5-2 loss to Morgan State University at the Neilson-Screen Tennis Stadium.
Only two doubles matches were contested as the visiting Bears only had five players for the match. Morgan won both doubles matches to take the team point winning 6-4 at number one and 6-1 at number two.
In singles, the Lady Pirates scored a win at number one singles as Mariam Mitaishvii defeated Chloe Kabamba 6-0, 6-0.
Steffy Paez won at number six by default for the two Lady Pirates points on Sunday.
Cherise Slocombe ended the year with a team best eight wins going 8-9 at number two singles, while Mitaishvii and
Mikaela Pierce each won seven matches going 7-10 at number one and 7-9 at number three singles respectively.
For doubles, the tandem of Mitaishvii and Pierce went 6-9 at number one doubles for the most wins.
