NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton freshman Eusila Chepkemei was named on Wednesday as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending October 8.

Chepkemei ran a MEAC-best 17:27.30 at the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge in Cary, N.C., winning the individual title and helping Hampton win the meet for the second straight year. She topped the conference's previous fastest time in 5K by just over 15 seconds.  Hampton had the top three finishers in the event.

The Lady Pirates return to action on Friday in Dover, Delaware at the DSU Alumni Run.
