HAMPTON, Va. –
Sydney Jackson scored two goals, while
Michelle Zilberman added one goal and an assist as the Hampton Lady Pirates defeated Lincoln Memorial 3-2 at the HU Soccer Complex to close out the 2017 season.
Jackson scored her first one at the 17:15 mark of the first half off a feed from Zilberman to put Hampton up 1-0. The second Lady Pirate goal came off a corner kick as the ball ricocheted off the post and put in by Zilberman as Hampton took a 2-0 lead just under 10 minutes left in the half.
The Railsplitters cut the deficit in half with 61 seconds left in the first half on the first of two Palisa Chipendo goals coming off a feed from Isa Jara.
Hampton (3-8-1) took a 3-1 lead eight minutes into the second half as Jackson ripped one from 15 yards away past the Lincoln Memorial (7-9) goalie. Chipendo scored on a penalty kick at the 60 minute mark to make the score 3-2. She later missed on a second penalty kick that would've forced overtime.
