BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Hampton University men's tennis team opened a four-match road swing on Friday knocking off Coppin State 5-2 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Northern Division matchup at Twin Lakes Tennis Center.
Hampton (4-4, 2-0) won the first two doubles matches to clinch the doubles point.Â
Juan Araoz and
Matthew Foster-Estwick won at line #1 6-0 over Zaipo Oula and Andre Sturniolo and winning at line #2 was
Charles Hudson and
Fedor Shirin 6-4 over Christian Duchnak and Gabriel Franca.
In singles, Hampton won the first four matches to lock up the match. Araoz won at line #1 over Franca and Shirin at line #2 over Oula both by 6-0, 6-0 counts. Hudson won at #3 over Duchnak 6-2, 6-3 and
Peter Odegbami won at line #4 over Anders Diaz 6-0, 6-1.
Hampton stays in Baltimore to face Morgan State on Saturday in another MEAC Northern Division matchup.
