BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Hampton University women's tennis team extended their winning streak to six matches with a 7-0 sweep of Coppin State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division matchup at the Twin Lakes Tennis Center Friday.
Hampton won the first two doubles matches to clinch the doubles point.Â
Mariam Mitaishvili and
Kristina Titova defeated Carentxa Goede and Tinashe 6-0 at line #1. At line #2,
Mikaela Pierce and
Cherise Slocombe defeated Brittanie Cahua and Ajla Hrnjic 6-2. The #3 match never got started as Hampton locked up the doubles point.
In singles, Hampton won all matches in straight sets. Titova won 6-0, 6-1 at line #1 over Gwaze to start the run. Mitaishvili defeated Cahua at line #2 and Slocombe defeated Goede 6-1, 6-3 at line #3. The last three matches all were 6-0, 6-0 wins for Hampton by
Haley Mullins (line #4), Pierce (line #5 and
Anastasiia Romanova (line #6).
Hampton (7-2, 2-0) returns to action on Saturday in Baltimore to face Morgan State.
