DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. –
Anastasiia Romanova won a three-set decision at line five singles to clinch the match for visiting Hampton University as they knocked off Bethune-Cookman University 4-3 in Daytona Beach on Thursday morning.
The teams split the two contested doubles matches as Bethune didn't field a third tandem.
Kristina Titova and
Mariam Mitaishvili scored a 6-0 win at line one to give Hampton the doubles point.
In singles, Hampton won in three spots to take the dual match. Mitaishvili won at line two by 7-6, 6-4, while they earned a forfeit win at line six.
Romanova lost the first set of her match 1-6, before storming back for a 6-3, 6-1 win to give Hampton a sweep of the Florida Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schools.
Hampton will have its first home match of the 2017 season on Thursday, March 16 when they face Maryland Eastern Shore at 3 pm.
