GREENSBORO, NC – The Hampton University women's outdoor track team finished off its three-day run at the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships with a second-place finish.
Meet host North Carolina A&T State came back on Saturday to win the meet scoring 155 points as Hampton was second with 124.
The Lady Pirates came away with two first-place finishes on Saturday as
Ayana Culhane won the javelin with a toss of 137-2 and
Faith Keitany won her second event of the weekend with a 17:06.72 in the 5000 meters.
Hampton also had three more in the top eight with Keitany in the 5000 as
Janet Okeago was second in 17:09.68,
Asia Johnson was sixth in 18:37.18 and
Pollyanna Velasco was seventh in 18:56.27.
Quadaisha Neal took eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 9-1 ¾. In the 1500, Hampton came out with three in the top eight as Okeago was fourth in 4:42.28, Keitany took seventh in 4:45.58 and Velasco was eighth in 4:48.24.
In the relays, the 4x100 group of
Tiara Robinson,
Mallory Pitchford,
Saenea Williams and
Meshala Morton was fourth in 46.80. The 4x400 group consisted of
Alysha Evans, Morton,
Erin Morrison,
Sashana Hinds and they were third in 3:48.29.
Hampton will next compete in the ECAC/IC4A championships next weekend in Princeton, NJ.
