Victoria Jenifer had four kills apiece on Saturday morning as Hampton fell to Canisius 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 to close the 2017 Buffalo Invite.
Hampton held an early two-point lead in the opening game before tying it at 13-all following an attack error by the Griffs. Canisius scored the next seven points for a 20-13 lead after consecutive kills by Sofia Lopez Acosta as they eventually won the first set 25-16. Set number two saw the Griffs lead throughout and by as much as 20-10 before taking a 25-17 game.
In the third set, there were five ties in the first 10 points before the Griffs scored five straight points for a working margin en route to the 25-21 win.
Hampton (0-3) returns to action on September 1-2 in the JMU Classic in Harrisonburg. Â They'll open with Drake on Friday, September 1 at 4:30 pm.
