FORMER PIRATES MOVING UP IN PRO BASKETBALL

HAMPTON, Va. -- Two former Hampton University men's basketball standouts recently signed professional contracts to play in Europe.

Reggie Johnson joins Spanish Ourense Basketball Club after a year with KFUM Swedish Nassjo where he averaged 14.6 points, 2,7 rebounds and 3.2 assists.  He will be competing in the second division of the Spanish Basketball Association.

Dionte Adams signed with CB Valls in Catelonia of the Spanish EBA league after averaging 11 points and 13 rebounds per game with Virgen de la Concha of Zamora.

In two seasons with the Pirates, Johnson helped the program win back-to-back MEAC Tournament titles and make consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In the 2015-16 season, Johnson was named First Team All-MEAC and the MEAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, ranking second in the conference in scoring with 18.1 points per game.

Johnson was also named a BoxToRow All-American and Second Team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).

Adams averaged 5.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as a senior.  He made his presence felt on the defensive end with 38 blocked shots.  He was a member of the back-to-back MEAC tournament champions 2014-16.
