HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton men's tennis team hosted Navy in its home opener on Friday and fell 5-2 to the Midshipmen at Neilson-Screen Tennis Stadium.
In doubles, Hampton earned the team point with wins at line two and three.Â
Fernando Fernandes and
Matthew Foster-Estwick defeated Joshua Martin and Romesh Kahatapitiya 6-1 at #2, while
Charles Hudson and
Davy Van Geerke defeated Camperon Kirkpatrick and Andrey Majkic 7-5 at line three to clinch the point.
Foster-Estwick won his match at line one singles over Andrew Tori 6-4, 6-4 for the lone Hampton point in singles. Navy won three-set matches at lines four, five and six to ice the dual match.
Hampton (0-7) will now play Hohward on Saturday night starting at 6pm at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
