NORFOLK, Va. – The Hampton University men's tennis team would fall short to Norfolk State 6-1 at the Battle of the Bay on Thursday.
In doubles, Hampton (1-11) would win just one of the matches.
Matthew Foster-Estwick and
Davy Van Geerke would win at line one 6-3. Norfolk would win at lines two and three 6-3, 6-1 to take the doubles point.
Norfolk would sweep Hampton by winning three three-set matches in singles to help seal their win.
Luke Thompson would give Hampton their only win at line four by winning a third set tiebreaker to take a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) victory.
Hampton returns to action on Saturday facing Radford at 12pm in Radford, Virginia before hosting Coppin State on Sunday.
