Box Score NORFOLK, Va. – The Hampton University women's tennis team opened its 2019 season on Saturday afternoon dropping a 6-1 decision to Temple in a match held at Old Dominion University.

Winning for Hampton was Yulia Kapitanova at number one singles as she won 6-4, 7-6 over Oleksandra Doroshenko.  Haley Mullins at line four singles lost 6-3, 6-3 for the other close match in singles.

The doubles tandems of Kapitanova and Viktoria Ljungman along with Cherise Slocombe and Julia d'Auvergne lost 6-2 sets at the top two doubles spots.

Hampton returns to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon for a 1pm start against nationally-ranked Old Dominion University.
