HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University lacrosse team announced its 2020 slate today and it is one with several new faces under first-year head coach Rashad Devoe.

"We have taken the mindset of we would play anyone now and this year we have used that approach with many new opponents," said coach Devoe.

The season opens on February 1 with the Pirates taking on New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark at noon.   Hampton continues its road swing heading to Greenville, S.C. to take on Furman University of the Southern Conference in a noon start on February 8.

The Pirates then face a stretch of three first-time opponents with a trip to Louisville, Kentucky and take on Bellarmine on February 11 at 4 pm.  Following that they'll visit Mercer University on February 22 for a noon start.

March starts with a trip to Jacksonville, Florida to take on the Dolphins of Jacksonville University on March 7 for a 7pm start.  Their six-game road swing to start the year concludes with a match in Greensboro, N.C. against the Pride of Greensboro College on March 11 at 2 pm.

The first home match for Devoe and his Pirates will be on March 14 when the Vikings of Cleveland State visit Armstrong Stadium for a 2 pm start.

Following that game will be the first trip for the Pirates to a "Power 5" opponent as they'll visit Salt Lake City, Utah and take on the Utes of the University of Utah on March 21 at 3 pm.  Hampton will conclude the month of March taking on VMI in Lexington, Va. on March 29 at 2 pm.

April will see the Pirates visiting Alderson-Broaddus for a 3pm start on April 4 to conclude their road schedule.   Hampton will finish the 2020 schedule hosting St. Thomas Aquinas on April 11 at 11 am and close out with first-time opponent Wilmington (Del.) University at 2 pm.
