HAMPTON, Va. -- The Hampton University 2020 softball schedule was announced on Monday which will see the Lady Pirates play in four tournaments, host the University of Virginia along with the defending Big South Conference champs from Longwood University.
Hampton opens the season in Greensboro, N.C. as the Lady Pirates face former Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival North Carolina A&T on Feb. 8 for a 1pm doubleheader.
The tournament slate begins the following weekend when Hampton visits East Carolina University for the Pirate Clash on Feb. 14-16. In Greenville, N.C., they will face George Washington University, DePaul University and the host Pirates of East Carolina.
Hampton will play its first home weekend with the first of three straight tournaments when they host the Pirate Classic on Feb. 21-23. Visiting teams will include Sacred Heart University, University of Toledo and the University of Hartford.
The second weekend will be the Hampton Classic on February 28-March 1 with Delaware State University, Marshall University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Morehead State University and Howard University coming to the event.
Hampton will conclude its three tournament stretch with the Pirate Invite over March 6-8 as Saint Peter's University, University of Delaware, Binghamton University, Wagner College and Drexel University.
Big South Conference play begins the following weekend as Hampton plays its first three weekends on the road at Gardner-Webb University (Mar. 14-15), Winthrop University (Mar. 20-21) and Charleston Southern University (Mar. 28-29). In the midst of that stretch is hosting a single-game with the University of Virginia on March 17 at 4 pm.
The month of March finishes with Hampton starting a lengthy homestand with a March 31 doubleheader against University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 2 pm. Big South play resumes the next weekend as Hampton hosts Radford University (Apr. 4-5), USC Upstate (Apr. 10-11) and Longwood University (Apr. 14-15).Â
The Lady Pirates are back on the road at Campbell University (Apr. 18-19) before ending with a doubleheader against Norfolk State University (Apr. 21) and a three-game set with Presbyterian College (May 2-3).
