CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced today its 2018-19 Presidential Honor Roll and Hampton had 193 student-athletes honored for having a 3.0 or greater GPA over the 2018-19 athletic year.

"I want to congratulate all of our student-athletes who were honored by the Big South Conference today," said Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey.  "These young men and women showed how we want our student-athletes to be, strong on the court as well as in the classroom."

Over 63% of Hampton student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom last year.  As a conference, almost 59% of the over 3,300 Big South student-athletes were honored.

The Big South had 173 student-athletes receive Commissioner's Award distinction in 2018-19 for having a 4.0 GPA.  Each of the Big South's 19 sponsored sports had at least three 4.0 students.  Gold Award scholars (3.75-3.99) totaled 413 while another 443 received Silver Award (3.50-3.74) accolades in 2018-19 for a combined total of 1,029 student-athletes with at least a 3.50 GPA last year -- 52.90 percent of all Presidential Honor Roll members at or above that threshold.
