LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Hampton Lady Pirates track and field team competed at the VMI Keydet Invitational this weekend and came out with several top finishes.
Isis Brooks took a second in the 200 meters in 24.50 and fourth in the 60 meters in 7.73 to lead the sprinters.
Adetoun Oluwole also had a pair of top eight finishes with a second in the 60 hurdles (8.47) and eighth in the 60 meters (7.81). Joining Oluwole in the hurdles was
Autumn Smith finishing third in 8.66. In the 500 meters,
Sashana Hinds took fifth in a season best 1:15.93.
The relay teams had top eight finishes in the 4x400 as Smith,
Jaelan Leonard,
Alysha Evans and
Sashana Hinds took second in 3:52.37. In the 4x800,
Kameryn Trussell, Dejah Grant,
Faith McMillan and DeVonya Brown took fourth in 10:25.50. In the distance medley, the group of
Asia Johnson, McMillan, Shakeira Johnson and Alexia Phifer took eighth in 13:14.94.
In the field events,
Jailyn Raines took third in the high jump (5-3), while Grant was fifth (5-1) and McMillan was eighth (4-11). The long jump saw Leonard take second with a leap of 19-1.25 and Oluwole was ninth in 17-5.5.
Dieusi Armand won the triple jump with a leap of 39-7.75, while Pitchford took sixth (38-1.25) and Trussell was seventh (37-1.75).
Ayana Culhane had a pair of top four finishes in the weight events with a fourth in the shot put after a toss of 44-7.5 and a third in the weight throw in 55-5.
Ayana Culhane was second in the shot put with a toss of 47-5.25.
Hampton is back in action next weekend at Liberty University.
