ORLANDO, Fla. – Hampton University men's tennis traveled to Orlando during Spring Break to secure their first win of the season against Regis College 7-0
Facing the Regis Pride Fayzullokhon Malvyud, and
Davy Van Geerke both won 6-0, 6-0 at line three and four. Fernando Ferandes,
Cliff Dwyer,
Basil Post, and
Matthew Foster-Estwick also won their singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles the Pirates led by Post and Malvyud swept the match going 6-0 at line three. Followed up by Fernandes and Van Geerke who won at line two 6-1. Dwyer and Foster-Estwick ended the competition with a win at line one 6-4.
In the second match of the day for men's tennis the Pirates fell to Grand Valley State 6-1. Van Geerke was able to secure the lone win for the Pirates in singles at line five going 6-1, 2-6, and 11-9 in the match. In doubles Fernandez and Van Geerke were in reach of a win but fell at the last point to lose 7-6 at line two.
