NORFOLK, Va. -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced its all-time team for men's basketball on Monday in conjunction with the 50
th anniversary of the conference and a pair of Hampton standouts made the list.
Tarvis Williams and Tommy Adams were recognized by the conference as part of the 50 greatest players in conference history. To be eligible, players must have been named to one of the following: First Team All-MEAC, MEAC Player of the Year, All-America or a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee.Â
Adams and Williams were two keys to the Pirates attack in the early 2000s culminating with a pair of back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances with the win against Iowa State in Boise, Idaho highlighting the time.Â
Adams was the first of two players in Hampton history to have made 100 3-pointers in a season and finished his career with 1,597 career points. He was a first team All-MEAC selection and MEAC Player of the Year as a senior in 2002 when he averaged 19.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game.  Adams is also in the top ten all-time in single season points, career free throw percentage and holds the record for career three-pointers with 282.
Williams has his name all over the record books after leading the nation in blocked shots as a senior in 2001 with a school record 147. In that senior year he averaged 21.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. He swatted six in the NCAA Tournament win against Iowa State and followed that with eight in the second round against Georgetown. Williams ranks seventh on the all-time scoring list and was a three-time first team All-MEAC, 1998 MEAC Rookie of the Year, 2001 MEAC Player of the Year and a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee in 2012.
