NORFOLK, Va. -- The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced its All-Time Men's Outdoor Track and Field team on Friday with five former Pirates named to the All-Time team.
More than 300 total votes were cast, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part.Â
To be considered on the ballot, student-athletes must have either posted one of the MEAC's top three times in an event, been named an All-American, MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship Outstanding Performer or a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee.Â
In all, 45 individuals and five relay teams, including 12 combined national championships and four MEAC Hall of Famers, are recognized.
Congrats to the former Pirates named to the MEAC All-Time team:
James Carter – Two-time MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer (1999, 2000)
Trey Holloway – 2014 Firs Team All-American, 110-meter hurdles; two-time Second Team All-American, 110-meter hurdles (2015, 2016); tied for MEAC's second-best time in 110-meter hurdles (12.57, 2015)
Jerome Mathis – Two-time All-American, 200 meters (2003, 2004); 2003 MEAC Outstanding Performer; MEAC Hall of Fame Class of 2019
Andrew Peresta – 2007 All-American, 400-meter hurdles; 2007 MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer.
Terry Thornton – Two-time All-American, 400-meter hurdles (2006, 2007); MEAC's best time in 400-meter hurdles (49.40, 2008).
