Newport News, Va. (Sept. 15, 2023) Both the men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Christopher Newport Cross Country Invitational this afternoon in Newport News, Va.

The women finished in 6th place in the 6k with 162 points and the men placed in 10th with a total of 278 points in the 8k.

Junior
Jordan Mozie led the Lady Pirates placing 13th overall with a time of 23:28.93, while senior
Kayla Spencer followed in 29th (24:42.86). Sophomore
Mekayla Wilson finished in 45th with a time of 25:45.77 and freshman
Angel Moultrie trailed a few spots behind in 48th (26:09.45). Freshman
Arriah Gilmer came in 57th at 27:17.80.

The first man to cross the line for Hampton in the 8k was freshman
Leo Davis in 82nd place (29:18.64). Juniors
Dugion Blackman and
Rushshane Fullerton were close behind in 93rd and 96th (30:33.66, 30:53.80). Â Sophmores Korede Otusaio and
Tyson Satterwhite rounded out the top five in 100th and 111th (31:26.02, 32:54.76).
