ELON, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2024) ... The Hampton University cross country teams competed on Friday in the Coastal Athletic Association Championships and the women came out with a ninth-place finish with 264 points, while the men finished 11
th at the meet hosted by Elon.
Freshman
Peninah Mutisya continued her impressive season with a second-place finish to lead the women as she covered the 6k course in a season best 20:23.60. She earned All-CAA honors with her finish.
Joining her in the top 70 were seniors
Jordan Mozie and
Kayla Spencer who finished 42
nd and 69
th respectively. Mozie ran a 22:40.60, while Spencer's time was 24:48.80. Rounding out the women's participants included:
Mekayla Wilson (75
th/25:36.40),
Kylee King (76
th/25:37.10) and
Angel Moultrie (83
rd/27:13.10).
On the men's side, two runners finished in the top 60 as
Mohammed Al-YaFee was 48
th covering the 8k course in 27:31.80 and
Nellie Ambriton was 56
th in 28:20.00.
Rounding out the men's participants were: Ibrahim Abdalla (63
rd/29:13.50),
Khalid Hamid (64
th/29:16.80) and
Kyle Jemison (71
st/33:47.10).
Stony Brook won the team title on the men's side, while Northeastern took the women's title.
