HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 23, 2024) –The Pirates lacrosse team is traveling to Charlotte, N.C. to compete against the Queens (N.C.) Royals on Saturday, February 23, at 1:00 PM.
On Tuesday, the Pirates were defeated by VMI. In the game, Hampton posted a season-high in goals with six.
Mamadou Meite recorded two goals, and
Kai Talley,
Craig Williams,
Sebastian West, and
Darius Stanley each scored one. Freshman
Braeden Lessane won three ground balls and four face-offs.
Hampton and Queens have played each other once before, last season. The Royals took the win by a score of 17-10 on February 19 in Hampton, Va. Hampton is searching for its first win of the season.
So Far This Season
Ellison Burt-Murray and
Mamadou Meite lead the Pirates in goals this season with three each. Two Pirates have two, and three have one.
Dillon Bethea continues to grab the most ground balls at 10 and leads in caused turnovers (4).
David Sadasivam finished the game against VMI with 15 saves, one short of his season-high (16). He has 34 saves this season.
Scouting the Queens Royals
Nik Colpitts is in his first season as Queens head coach. The Royals have started the season with a 0-2 record, with losses coming at VMI (14-10) and at home against High Point (17-8).
Jack Royer has tallied five goals for the Royals this season. Exactly 50 percent of the team's goals have been assisted. Grant Isika and Jacob Schreck each have seven ground balls. Out of the three goalies that have played, Nicky West has the most saves this season at 14.
