Last Week's Meet
At the South Carolina Invitational, Abria Smith and Leo Davis broke indoor school records. Davis was named the CAA Track Athlete of the Week and Kelvin Fonville earned the CAA Field Athlete of the Week.
Smith broke her own shotput record with a win at 15.24m. She set her previous school record less than a month ago at the HBCU Showcase (15.20m).
Davis won the 800m race with a time 1:47.05. This broke the indoor Hampton and CAA record. It was more than one second faster than the mark Edose Ibadin earned back in 2015 (1:48.19). Davis now holds the best time in the conference, and the seventh fastest time in the country.
Fonville finished second in the men's long jump with a personal best at 7.35m. The jump earned Fonville the top spot in the conference by over 0.25m and set the CAA record in this event. The performance marked the first time an athlete has jumped over 24 feet in indoor conference history.
