HAMPTON, Va. (June 21, 2024) … Hampton University women's soccer coach Scot Vorwold has announced the 2024 schedule for the upcoming season. The 18-game slate features seven home games at Powhatan Field.
The Lady Pirates are coming off their second season in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). 2024 will mark the first season with Coach Vorwold at the helm. Vorwold joined the Pirates from Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, Mo. During his last six seasons with the team, he boasted a remarkable 71-30-5 record with the Hornets. His teams would also have success off the field with three valedictorians in the past five years.
Hampton will open the 2024 campaign on the road against Mount St. Mary's on Aug. 15. Last season the Lady Pirates fell in a close match to the Mountaineers 2-1. Then on Sunday, Aug. 18, HU returns home to Powhatan Field hosting long-time rival Howard at 3:00 p.m.
After returning home, Hampton will begin a four-game road trip facing Saint Peter's on Aug. 25. The Lady Pirates then head south to face two SWAC opponents. Sept. 1 HU begins the stint against Alcorn State and then takes on Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 3. Coach Vorwold's side closes out the road trip on Sept. 10 against Big South foe Longwood.
Coach Vorwold's squad returns home to face Lincoln on Sept. 14 at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Pirates end their non-conference slate against Virginia State on Sept. 16 at 4:00 p.m. Sept. 19 marks the start of conference play for HU as they take on William & Mary at Powhatan Field at noon. Hampton's first conference road trip will be at Campbell on Sept. 22 at 4:00 p.m. The Lady Pirates close out the month at home against Delaware (Sept. 26) and on the road at Elon (Sept. 29).
After facing the Phoenix, Hampton returns home to take on UNCW at noon (Oct. 3). Before returning home, the Lady Pirates are on the road for two straight contests making a trip to New York taking on Stony Brook (Oct. 10) and Hofstra (Oct. 13). HU closes out the home portion of its schedule against Charleston on Oct. 17 at noon along with Drexel on Sunday Oct. 20 at 3:00 p.m.
The 2024 slate comes to an end with the Lady Pirates facing Monmouth on the road (Oct. 27) at 1:00 p.m. The 2024 CAA Women's Soccer Championships start with first-round action on October 31 with the semifinals and championship on November 3 and 9.
