Hampton Women’s Soccer Falls on the Road to the Campbell Camels

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (Sept. 22, 2024) … Hampton University women's soccer team fell on the road to Campbell Camels 7-0. While both offenses were held quiet in the opening moments, Campbell got on the board early. The Lady Pirates would produce seven shots and could not find the back of the net.

Hampton (3-6-1) and the Camel's' offense struggled to get things going early. Heading into the 11th minute of the match neither side has a recorded shot. CU's Alyssa Tucker gave Campbell an early advantage by scoring a goal. The Camels continued to build upon its lead scoring in the same minute making it 2-0.

Freshman Ellen Van Caenegem tallied the Lady Pirates' first shot of the match. Her chance would be off-target. The Forney, Texas native, finished the contest with a team-high two shots. Before the end of the half, Campbell found the back of the net twice more, doubling its advantage.

While Hampton only had two shots in the first half, Coach Scot Vorwold's side recorded five in the final 45 minutes. Ece Lea Evin produced the HU's first shot of the second half. The Camels in the 52nd minute found the back of the net once more. Campbell's offense continued to find its rhythm scoring in the 67th minute. Before the end of the match, the Camels scored in the final minutes of the contest.

Up next, Hampton returns home to Powhatan Field to host Delaware on Thursday, Sept. 26. Kickoff for the Lady Pirates next match is tabbed for noon.
